Canada Proud Releases Results of Conservative Leadership Poll

Canada Proud has completed one of the largest surveys to date on the Conservative leadership race.

Unlike earlier polls that surveyed the Canadian public at large, Canada Proud focused its survey on the active Conservative Party members who will decide the leadership race.

6,279 self-declared Conservative Party members participated in the survey. Our national findings are as follows:

Pierre Poilievre: 34.48%

Rona Ambrose: 32.49%

Peter Mackay: 9.60%

Michelle Rempel: 6.42%

Erin O’Toole: 2.05%

Candice Bergen: 1.61%

Lisa Raitt: 1.11%

Jean Charest: 0.94%

Bernard Lord: 0.19%

Gerard Deltell: 0.18%

Undecided: 6.10%

Other: 4.83% (write in)

“We believe our survey represents the most accurate picture of the Conservative leadership race to date,” says Canada Proud founder Jeff Ballingall. “Unlike other surveys that focused on the Canadian public at-large, our survey focused on the Conservative Party members who will decide this contest.”

“There is still plenty of time for these numbers to shift, but our survey provides a snapshot of the race as it stands now. We believe it will take bold ideas and a strong digital outreach to excite existing Conservative members and sign up new ones.”

METHODOLOGY

The survey was conducted online from December 18 to 31, 2019. It was distributed to our database of over 200,000 emails and promoted on social media. Survey participants were asked whether they are currently a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.

6,279 individuals self-declared as active Conservative Party members. Responses from these 6,279 individuals form the basis of the survey’s findings.
